My Passions
In recent years I’ve focused on designing and maintaining LAMP-style web applications. Most of my experience is in Perl but I have enough Ruby, Python, and PHP to be dangerous. Whatever tool fits best in context is fine with me. All aspects of the web application stack are interesting to me. I like to be involved in everything from determining the best stack components to designing the User Experience. I can implement efficient storage systems and make shiny graphics in Photoshop. To sum up, I’m a generalist that has invested in deep knowledge of all aspects of web application design, development, and deployment. It’s my passion.
Solving Organic Problems
Because of my thorough understanding of the Perl programming language I’m especially adept at maintaining and evolving legacy and organically grown software. Not all projects start with a strong architecture and sometimes they just grow out of control naturally. I have a knack for debugging, testing, and refactoring difficult software. This means I’m capable of quickly assessing the short and long term steps required to convert your software and development process from a painful expense to a lean cost of doing business.
