It’s not quite as bleak as you say. You could do a hardcore non-smoothie bar in the Strip or Shadyside or Market Sq. or maybe even Squirrel Hill, but if you try that in the South Hills, you’ll probably be gone in six months unless you get a totally sweet deal on a tiny kiosk somewhere with lots of foot traffic. And we haven’t even talked soup or sandwiches yet
